Let me first tell you that you are an amazing and resilient child. Last night, I had the most terrifying experience, thus far, as your mother. I’ll start from the beginning; you and I were having a wonderful time hanging out with your Grandma Pat. We had enjoyed a nice dinner at Bob Evans and were playing at home. Daddy just put up a new closet organization system in mommy and daddy’s bedroom and Grandma wanted to see it, so we went upstairs to show her. You and I were waiting for Grandma upstairs, who was finishing up downstairs. I turned away from you for a second and before I knew it you were falling down the stairs. I think you were going towards the stairs to get your Grandma and must have gotten a little too close to the edge.
My heart sank, as I ran towards you and tired so hard to grab you to stop the fall. But, I couldn’t get to you. Time seemed to pass in slow motion. Once you reached the bottom, I was right behind you to scoop you up into my arms. We both were crying from the frightening experience. Thank goodness, Grandma was there to help mommy. I needed her support to help me, so I could help you.
Luckily, you suffered no injuries other than a sore nose from the fall. Your nose bleed for just a little while, but it quickly stopped and we were able to calm down. Grandma was so good to check over your head and body to ensure that everything felt normal. Grandma stayed with us for awhile and daddy rushed home from class to be there too.
You got to stay up and play much later than normal last night. I wanted to keep you up to watch you and ensure you acted normal. You were soon back to your happy, playful self. You were fascinated with Grandma’s cell phone, so much so that we couldn’t get the phone out of your hands. You also shared a snack with daddy.
When it was time for bed, you grabbed your sippy cup, kitty cat and blanket like you always do and headed for the stairs…ready to climb them on your own. However, mommy carried you to bed that night. You quickly went to sleep. I was a nervous wreck and checked on you many times through the night and daddy did too.
Hunter, you recovered so much faster from the fall than mommy has. It’s the day after and I can still replay the fall in my head when I close my eyes. I’m so thankful that you are fine and have no injuries from this experience. I know accidents will happen, but no matter when they do, my heart will break when they happen to you. I’ve heard it said that when you become a mother, you realize what it is like to have your heart walking around outside your body – you are my heart and I love you so very much.
Your mommy

Awww...I know exactly how you feel! Emma fell off the bed a couple of months ago and cracked her head on our nightstand. We ended up at Urgent Care thinking she would need stitches....she didn't, luckily. It was awful seeing her fall and not being able to catch her! We know that they will suffer injuries, but it's so hard watching them happen. I'm glad that Miss Hunter is doing okay.
